What is the EPC business?

EPC involves everything from consulting to operations in the solar power generation business, and is something that increases customer asset values.
Implementation and inspection standards are defined for every step of the process, and there is strict safety management at every step from implementation to operation.

EPC business procedure

Business plan and feasibility study
  • Confirmation of base conditions at site (condition of location, confirmation of land type/use/zone, creation of basic plot plan, etc.)
  • Site due diligence (examinations such as analysis of surrounding area, gradients, shadow interference due to surrounding buildings, etc.)
  • Apply in advance for various inspections
Business proposal
  • Creation of proposal and examination by business (construction costs, amount generated, profitability, financial conditions, etc.)
Power generation business permit
  • Depending on capacity, approvals granted after registration and review by the relevant Si, Gun, and Do offices, in addition to inspections by relevant institutions such as KEPCO.
  • Required documents (application for approval, business plan, transmission relationship chart (including engineering plans for approvals), etc.)
  • Check whether loans are available (Examination of Industrial Bank of Korea/KB Insurance linked to LG solar consulting exclusive financial products)
Development action approvals / mountain (farmland) approvals
  • Approval decision made after a city planning review upon application with the relevant local government.
  • In the case of mountain (farm) lands, separate approval is required, and if the installation will occur on top of buildings, then an examination of the plans in the building register and the building itself will be conducted.
  • Depending on the size and use of the site, a small scale environmental impact study and advance disaster study may also be conducted.
Contract
  • Public works (access roads, installation area/boundaries, support facilities, etc.) planning and consultation
  • Confirmation of material specifications such as those for the modules, inverters, connection board, structure, etc.
  • Contract details and scope of construction determined through consultation after which contract is written (if contract is executed, blueprints and construction plan included)
Registering construction plan / construction / inspection before use
  • Construction plan must be registered with the relevant local government before construction begins.
  • Construction method: Public works > base > Installation of base elements such as structure/modules, etc. > Electrical work > Grid connection work
  • Required processes after construction is complete (Solar installations require electrical safety inspections before use).
  • For installations that can receive new renewable energy supply certification, installation confirmation must be received from the New Renewable Energy Center.
Electrical power supply contract / Business registration
  • Electrical power supply contract
    • Installations of 1MW or less: Contract with KEPCO
    • Installations exceeding 1MW: Contract with KPX
  • Business registration
    • Installations of 3MW or less: Register with Si, Gun, Gu offices
    • Installations exceeding 3MW: Register with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy ※ In accordance with Article 9 (4) of the Electric Utility Act and Article 8 of the Enforcement Decree of the Electric Utility Act.
